d’en Sarrià Fountains
Callosa d’En Sarrià, an old Muslim farmhouse that became the head of the lordship that dominated most of the region of Marina Baixa, is famous for the excellent fruits of its orchards, highlighting the golden treasure of it’s medlar plantations, with it’s newly achieved “Designation of Origin” which are now marketed internationally.
It is worth mentioning the Sierra de Bernia, where it’s possible to enjoy an impressive view of the coast and the interior of the region of Marina Baja. The remains of what was once the Bernia Fort, declared a Cultural Interest Site, are still preserved. Today, you can still see the remains of its floor, the moat and the access system, as well as part of the structures of the room. To enjoy all this you must follow the PR-V-48, the path that runs the old access road to the fort from the urban center of Callosa, passing through the area of the Fonts del Algar.
Located only 15 km from Benidorm, Les Fonts d’Algar waterfalls is a natural site with a high degree of conservation of it’s ecological richness that’s also equipped, with tourist services and environmental education.
Discover its 1.5 km long circuit along the riverbed of the Algar (“cave” in Arabic) to see the landscape, fruit of the karst modeling of limestone: the spectacular waterfalls; the numerous springs that surge from the rock; the “tolls” (water pools) where you can take refreshing baths of pure and crystalline waters, formerly considered as a “source of health”; the old dam, the imposing canal and the ancient ditches which are still in use today.
The services aimed at facilitating and enriching the visit with environmental education resources are the following: Tourist Office, parking areas, toilets, first aid, Arboretum and the picnic area.
